Russians’ spending on New Year’s table has been calculated

On average, food and drinks for the New Year’s table this year cost the Russians 6.7 thousand rubles. Compared to last year, the cost increased by 4.5 percent, calculated Rosstat . As RIA Novosti clarifies, the list includes spending on beef meat, chicken meat (one kilogram ), a pound of raw smoked sausage and smoked meats, the same amount of salted and smoked fish delicacies, a 200-gram can of caviar and a 350-gram can of canned fish.

The set also includes butter, cheese, bread, vegetables and fruits, as well as sweets and cake. Alcohol in the set is represented by vodka, cognac and champagne, soft drinks – mineral water and fruit juice. Potatoes (by 28.88 percent) and fresh cucumbers (16.17 percent), oranges (24 percent) and apples (17.2 percent) rose the most over the year. The cost of a food set differs by region: the most expensive table will cost residents of Chukotka and the Nenets Autonomous Okrug (almost 9 thousand rubles), and the cheapest – residents of Ingushetia (3.7 thousand rubles).

According to data of Tinkoff CoronaIndex research, Russians this year began to save money before holidays. The cost of preparing for the holiday decreased by 9 percent compared to 2019. Demand for holiday goods has increased in recent weeks, but experts fear that the economic recovery will not help much of the sectors most affected by the pandemic.
