A new strain of coronavirus found in people who came from the Republic of South Africa (South Africa) is fraught with a new danger. It was described by the head of the UK government’s advisory group on new and emerging respiratory virus threats, Professor Peter Horby, reports RIA Novosti a> Saturday, December 26th.
He noted that mutations in SARS-CoV-2 can not only make it more infectious, but also affect the ability of antibodies to fight the virus. “This can make it easier to re-infection and could mean vaccines may be less effective,” the doctor said.
