New type of coronavirus found in eight European countries

A new type of coronavirus has been found in eight European countries. This was announced in his Twitter Hans Kluge, head of the Regional Office for Europe of the World Health Organization (WHO).

“Eight regions of Europe have identified a new variant of COVID-19 – VOC-202012/01. It is vital to strengthen existing protective measures,” Kluge wrote.

He urged to keep distancing, wear masks and not leave the “bubbles of support” – special groups that limit social circle during a pandemic, and added that, apparently, the new strain is spreading among younger populations. Kluge stressed the need to remain vigilant.

A dangerous mutation of the coronavirus was first discovered in the UK in September, more than a thousand people are known to have become ill with this particular strain of a deadly disease. A day earlier, it was reported that she made it to Asia – she was identified in Japan.
