Georgian MP returned her salary in protest

Elene Khoshtaria, a deputy from the opposition party “European Georgia”, returned the salary that the parliament gave her in protest against the results of the last elections. She told about this on her page in Facebook .

“Parliament does not pay attention to the fact that we are not there, and credited the salary. How cool they came up with. In a matter of seconds they got everything back,” Khoshtaria wrote. She attached screenshots of the transaction to her publication. The salary of a member of the Georgian parliament is 4624 lari (about 1400 US dollars).

Earlier, the deputies of the largest opposition party in Georgia “United National Movement” of the former president of the country Mikhail Saakashvili submitted to parliament a statement on the refusal of their mandates in protest against the results of the past elections. They were also joined by representatives of other opposition forces, some of the parliamentary factions completely ignore meetings.

In response to this, the ruling party of the country “Georgian Dream” promised to consider a bill on the deprivation of funding for opposition parties that sabotage meetings or do not fully implement their parliamentary mandates. In this case, they will not be able to use free airtime on TV channels, and their members will not be able to receive salaries from the republican budget.
