The Federation Council approved a bill to punish officials for rudeness. This was reported by RIA Novosti .

The document introduces fines for civil servants for insults, their amount will vary from 50 to 100 thousand rubles. A repeated violation will face a fine in the amount of 100 to 150 thousand.

In addition, officials can be disqualified: for the first case of rudeness for a year, for the second – for up to two years.

State Duma adopted the bill in the third reading on December 16. In addition to fines for officials, the document equates insults on the Internet with public ones, providing that it can concern several people, and introduces penalties for legal entities for libel.

The document was submitted to the State Duma in May. Its authors explained that the existing mechanism for protecting the honor and dignity of citizens is not effective enough.
