European companies accused United States of blocking their access to China

European tech companies have accused the United States of using sanctions to block their access to the Chinese market, writes Financial Times .

Over the past two years, the United States has imposed sanctions on many Chinese companies such as Huawei and SMIC. The source of the publication said that such a policy provides for exceptions for American companies in working with China, while European business is cut off from the PRC market.

“American companies have been licensed to supply Huawei, but European suppliers have not yet,” said the head of one of the companies on condition of anonymity. Many European enterprises producing microcircuits and equipment for their production are subject to US sanctions.

Some companies EU were banned from supplying components to Chinese buyers due to suspicions that they can be used for military purposes. But the market quickly filled with American suppliers who sold goods through intermediaries, the newspaper writes.

China is an important partner for European companies. However, the EU has become embroiled in a rivalry between the United States and China, which are fighting for technological leadership, experts say.

The main reasons for the start of a trade war between China and the United States were the large trade deficit in bilateral relations between the United States and China, as well as Washington’s claims against Beijing in terms of violations of intellectual property rights. Previously winner of the US presidential election Joe Biden declared that he did not intend to immediately end the trade war and abolish trade duties.
