Abandoned Soviet laboratory restored in Arctic

Central Scientific Research Institute of Precision Engineering (TsNIITOCHMASH, part of Rostec ) has restored an abandoned Soviet laboratory in the Arctic. After the collapse of the USSR, it was mothballed, subsequently the equipment fell into disrepair. This was reported by RIA Novosti citing the press service of the enterprise.

The special laboratory was used in the USSR to test grenade launchers and small-caliber small arms and cannon weapons in extreme conditions. We are talking about temperatures from 60 degrees Celsius to 60 degrees below zero, as well as rain and strong winds. The conditions were created in test chambers, which were restored by specialists.

“Certification [of the test chambers of the laboratory building] has become the final technical stage in restoring the unique testing technology lost after the collapse of the USSR, which was owned only by our institute,” said the head of the scientific and technical center for testing and experimental research of weapons, military and special equipment TsNIITOCHMASH Sergey Karasev .

Previously American The National Interest magazine named 20 weapons that” simply cannot be defeated. ” Among them, in particular, there is a Soviet lightweight supersonic front-line fighter of the third generation MiG-21.
