Governing body elected to guide Perl development

Declared a> the results of the election of the governing board, which replaced the sole leader of the Perl project. The Core Team has elected three trusted developer communities to make decisions about Perl development. The council includes Ricardo Signes , Neil Bowers a> and Sawyer X .

Recall that the Perl project has migrated to the new project management model , in accordance with which two structures are managed:

  • Core Team – includes 25 trustworthy contributors, but not necessarily developers and committers. The Core Team sets the rules for running Perl, elects the governing board, makes decisions on the admission or exclusion of its members, and delegates to the governing board the resolution of any controversial issues. The Core Team has the right to exclude members of the governing board. Core Team’s areas of responsibility also include related ecosystem elements such as CPAN, perl.org, metacpan.org, conference management, and IP and license issues.
  • Governing Body – composed of three leaders elected by voting in the Core Team. The Council has broad decision-making authority over the development of the Perl language, the interpreter, and all other components, systems, and processes leading to new releases. For example, the council will approve schedules and processes for new releases, establish procedures for promoting, discussing and adopting significant language changes, and delegate authority to individuals. The Council will also be used as a last resort when the community has failed to reach consensus or a separate conflict resolution is required.
