The current US President Donald Trump extended government funding for another day, until December 21 inclusive, reports The Hill citing the White House.
The American leader signed the corresponding resolution, which was adopted earlier by both houses of Congress. This measure allowed again to avoid the so-called “shutdown” – the suspension of the work of the US federal structures. The move is expected to give congressmen and senators enough time to fully agree on next year’s government budget.
Earlier, Trump has already signed a similar resolution, which extended government funding by two days. It expired at midnight on December 21st.
For several months, US Congress continued fierce disputes between Democrats and Republicans around adopting a package of measures to help citizens in connection with the coronavirus pandemic. On December 20, the parties finally managed to agree on a $ 900 billion stimulus package. A vote on this initiative is expected to take place on December 21st.
