Italy has declared itself a “red zone” due to the coronavirus epidemic. This was announced by Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte.

The country goes into a nationwide quarantine from December 24 to January 6. According to Conte, citizens will be banned from leaving their homes unnecessarily. It is also prohibited to move from region to region. All shops except grocery stores will be closed. Hairdressers will remain open, and catering establishments will be able to operate in delivery or take-out mode.

Trade will be stopped in the country, except for essential stores and pharmacies, and there will be restrictions on the population leaving their homes. For citizens who agree to take part in free testing for the virus, the quarantine will last until January 18, and for those who refuse to take tests, the restriction regime will be in effect until January 24.
