A new type of coronavirus identified in the UK has a high spread, said the chief physician of England, Chris Whitty. His statement published on the British government website.
“With the rapid spread of the new type of virus, based on preliminary projections and rapidly increasing infections in the South East of England, the New and Emerging Respiratory Virus Threats Advisory Board now believes the new type of virus may spread at a faster rate.” Whitty pointed out.
At the same time, according to him, there is no evidence that the new strain of coronavirus leads to more deaths or affects vaccines and treatment. Research on this issue has already begun.
The doctor noted that it is now more important than ever that citizens observe precautions.
Earlier in December, UK Health Minister Matthew Hancock reported that discovered a new strain of coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, which spreads faster than the original form. The virus spreads more easily from person to person and is therefore more contagious, he said.
