Specialists of the Falling Areas Administration of the Center for Operation of Ground Space Infrastructure Facilities (TSENKI, part of the Roscosmos State Corporation), within the framework of the Soyuz-2.1b / OneWeb launch campaign, found two spent blocks of the first stage of the launch vehicle in the Zeya region in the area of the fall. All fragments were found within the boundaries of the designated area of the fall.
In the area of the fall of the second stage in the Kobyaysk ulus of the Republic of Sakha, a fallen second stage of the carrier was also found. In all areas, prospecting operations are carried out on Mi-8 helicopters. Snow sampling is carried out in the places of detection of fragments and monitoring points. At the same time, measurements of gamma radiation were carried out. According to the results of express tests, no abnormal deviations were recorded. Upon completion of the search work, all the fragments found will be removed from the fall areas and delivered to the Vostochny cosmodrome. Due to the remoteness of the fall areas and the large volume of work, the transportation of fragments to the cosmodrome will be carried out already in 2021.
The search groups of TsENKI began work on the search and evacuation of fragments of the normally spent stages of the launch vehicle immediately after the launch. To search for fragments of the separating parts of the carrier during launches from Vostochny, the latest prototype of a complex of technical means for operating the fall areas is used. The upgraded complex includes two radar stations of centimeter and decimeter wavelengths, a complex of unmanned aerial vehicles, autonomous field camps, as well as satellite communications and data transmission facilities, which significantly speed up and improve the process of searching for separating parts of the launch vehicle.
