In the UK, a man with COVID-19 spent seven months in hospital and recovered after doctors tried to disconnect him from life support three times. This story is reported by The Mirror.
57-year-old Ali Sakallioglu was in hospital for 222 days, and doctors three times told his five children to say goodbye to their father. However, they refused to let him die and asked the doctors to turn his father on his stomach in a last attempt to save his life. “Hope was all we had, and we knew that he would not give up,” said the patient’s son.
Ali returned home last month, and his father’s return was the best Christmas present for his family. The man plans to celebrate the holiday with his son, who lives with him and his 52-year-old beloved Shina. He is also trying to get a vaccine so he can get back to work as a taxi driver without fear of the disease hitting him again.
Earlier, a husband and wife from the American state of Texas died with a difference of two minutes from complications after contracting COVID-19. The couple’s son, along with other family members, made the difficult decision to disconnect them from the life support system. On Sunday, December 13th, the doctors moved their beds together for the last time. They locked their fingers, and the couple died minutes apart, holding hands.
