According to him, the new genetic variant of SARS-CoV-2 may be 70 percent more infectious. He added that to date there is no evidence that the new strain of coronavirus causes more severe forms of the disease or has a higher mortality rate.

The British government has decided to impose maximum restrictions in London and several regions in the south-east of England.
On December 14, UK Health Minister Matthew Hancock reported that a a new strain of the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 that spreads faster than the original form. The virus spreads more easily from person to person and is therefore more contagious, he said.
