Started testing alpha version of the openSUSE Leap 15.3 , based on the core set of SUSE Linux Enterprise distributions with some custom applications from the openSUSE Tumbleweed . available for download a universal DVD assembly, 4.2 GB in size (x86_64, aarch64, ppc64les, 390x).
Unlike past releases of openSUSE Leap, version 15.3 is not built by rebuilding SUSE Linux Enterprise src packages, but
using the same set of binary packages with SUSE Linux Enterprise 15 SP 3. It is assumed that using the same binary packages in SUSE and openSUSE will simplify migration from one distribution to another, save resources on building packages, distributing updates and testing, unify differences in spec files and allow you to move away from diagnosing different package assemblies when parsing messages on bugs.
Alpha builds with rolling package updates are planned to be published regularly until mid-February. On February 12, the transfer of new versions will be stopped and the distribution will move to the beta testing stage using a repository maintenance model close to releases. OpenSUSE Leap 15.3 is expected to be released in July 2021.
