One hundred million African francs (13.6 million rubles) were found in a landfill in the Cameroonian city of Yaounde, reports the Malian edition Maliactu.
A bag of money was found by a beggar who was sorting through the garbage in search of useful things. Moldy bills were collected in bundles of 10 thousand African francs, which in turn were divided into groups of one million African francs (136 thousand rubles).
The prey of the beggar was noticed first by two homeless people who also hunted in the dump, and then by a baker who worked nearby. To keep the find a secret, the beggar had to share with them. After that, he caught a taxi, collected the remaining packs and drove away.
The found money became known through the fault of the baker, who began to spend the wealth that had fallen on her and attracted the attention of the police. At first, the law enforcement officers demanded their share, but were refused. Then they began to find out exactly who had found the bag of francs. The woman also could not answer this question. As a result, she had to spend the whole night in the ward.
In 2018 it was reported that a resident of the Lebanese city of Beirut Fatima Othman, earned by begging, hid more than a million dollars in her bank accounts. This became known only after her death.
