Found lost 50 years ago, one of most valuable cars in world

One of the most valuable cars in the world, the location of which has remained unknown for the last 50 years, will be put up for auction in London. The Daily Mail reports.

This is a 1937 Bugatti Type 57S car, which was kept in the workshop of its late owner, engineer and Bugatti fan Bill Turnbull (Bill Turnbull), in North Staffordshire, England.

It is noted that the retrocar is in pristine condition, as it has not been used since 1969. Bugatti was recently found at Turnbull’s mansion after his death, the car was considered lost for the last half century.

It is also known that the car was originally ordered by a member of the Ropner Shipping Line family, Robert Ropner, from Jack Barclay dealership. Ropner equipped it with a Grand Routier four-seater sports body with a powerful 3.3-liter engine. Thus, the 57S became the fastest road car of its time and could reach a top speed of 185 kilometers per hour.

The vintage car with a black body and leather interior was nicknamed “Dulsey” due to its British registration number DUL 351.

According to the publication, 42 cars of this model were produced in the last century. The find will be put up for sale in the Bonhams trading floor on February 19, 2021. The lot is expected to cost between five and seven million pounds (500-700 million rubles).

In November, the unique car of the Sultan of Brunei Hassanal Bolkiah put up for sale for tens million rubles. In the assortment of the American company Curated, which sells expensive vehicles, the blue supercar Cizeta V16T, previously owned by the Sultan, appeared in the summer. The rare model cost 750 thousand dollars (54.7 million rubles).
