A schoolgirl from the English city of Liverpool found a wallet with a large sum of money, returned it to the owners and saved them Christmas, reports the Daily Star.
On December 9, 14-year-old Rhiannon Parkinson was walking to school with friends and noticed a wallet on the ground in front of one of the shops. There were 700 pounds (69.2 thousand rubles) inside. The girl ignored the offers of friends to take the money for herself and handed the find to the employees of the outlet.
Later that day, a couple named Marie and Johnathan came to the store and took the money. They lost their wallet, which contained all their savings for Christmas gifts for children.
The couple thanked Parkinsky, who has autism. They gave her some of the money they found and a postcard. In the postcard, Marie and Jonathan wrote: “It’s great to know that honest people still exist.” The schoolgirl decided to spend money on hair coloring.
Parkinson’s mother, 44-year-old Sarah Litherland, praised her daughter. “I am so proud that Rhiannon did the right thing. She had a tough year, but it lifted her spirits. She now carries thank-you cards with her everywhere. She is happy that she helped someone and saved their Christmas,” Leaterland said.
The Englishwoman emphasized that the fact that the girl is autistic means that she is easily influenced by others. But she remained honest and resisted offers to take the money for herself.
Store Manager Mike Coulson noted that it is good to see good deeds in difficult times.
Earlier it was reported that a resident of the Irish city of Dublin is trying to find a mysterious woman, who returned his lost wallet with money. A stranger threw his wallet into the mailbox without leaving her contacts.
