In the Yuzhny Space Center (a branch of the Center for Operation of Ground-Based Space Infrastructure Facilities at the Baikonur Cosmodrome, part of the Roscosmos State Corporation), despite the difficult climatic conditions, post-launch work continues. Since the beginning of December, the temperature in Baikonur does not rise above minus 17 degrees, which, with an icy steppe wind, feel like thirty degrees below zero.
As a result of the post-launch inspection of the Vostok launch complex, the commission established non-critical damage to individual units. At present, the contractor LLC SPETSKRYOGENMONTAZH, under the supervision of the specialists of the TsENKI branch, is carrying out repair work to restore the concrete coating of the gas duct, as well as the thermal insulation layer of cables, air ducts and pipelines.
On October 14, 2020, the Soyuz 2.1a launch vehicle with the Soyuz MS-17 manned transport spacecraft was successfully launched from site No. 31 of the cosmodrome. The next day, a commission of specialists from the Yuzhny Space Center performed a post-launch inspection and assessment of the state of ground-based technological equipment, technical systems, power supply systems and the construction part of the launch complex.
