The President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko promised to fight for his country. This was reported by the STV TV channel.
“Nobody should think that Lukashenko has folded his hands, and that’s it, he has already thrown everything and left. Until the last riot policeman and a real doctor say:” That’s it, Lukashenko, you’ve done your job, “- until then I will fight for this country, “he said at a meeting with doctors at the Mogilev Regional Clinical Hospital. He added that he has nothing but Belarus.
Earlier on December 15, Lukashenko urged his fellow citizens to live together, save the country “for grandchildren “and said that he was not going to run anywhere.
In Belarus, mass protests have continued for four months due to the official results of the presidential elections, according to which Lukashenko, who ran for the sixth term, received 80 percent of the votes, and the main opposition candidate, the wife of the arrested blogger Svetlana Tikhanovskaya – 10 percent.
The protesters demand the resignation of the country’s leadership, new and fair elections, the release of political prisoners and the prosecution of those responsible for the violence against the demonstrators.
Lukashenka himself claims that the West is behind what is happening.
