All members of the Georgian party “United National Movement” of the former president of the country Mikhail Saakashvili a > submitted to the parliament a statement to resign from their mandates due to disagreement with the official results of the last elections. The document was signed by 36 deputies, the leader of the Labor Party of Georgia also refused his mandate Shalva Natelashvili . Six more opposition movements, whose members entered parliament following the election results, are still boycotting the meetings.
It is noted that on December 15, the leader of the United National Movement, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Grigol Vashadze left his post in the party. He stated that he would not work in a faction that is massively run by “odious figures”.
The Central Election Commission of Georgia published the final results of the parliamentary elections on November 22. As a result of voting, “Georgian Dream” received 90 out of 150 mandates, “United National Movement” took only 36 seats in parliament. The elections were recognized by the international community, but the opposition refused to agree with the results of the plebiscite. Protest actions have begun in the country.
