A way to prevent a special deadly cancer

Canadian dermatologists have advised every person who spends a long time in the sun to use sunscreen in order to prevent the development of melanoma – a particularly deadly and aggressive type of skin cancer that quickly metastases. A method of protecting against tumors named in a press release on EurekAlert !, article by researchers published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal.

It is known that most skin cancers develop from prolonged exposure to the sun. SPF30 sunscreens reduce the risk of skin cancer by blocking harmful UV radiation with chemical filters such as titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. An analysis of a number of randomized controlled trials has shown that they do help prevent melanoma and squamous cell carcinoma of the skin, and also inhibit skin aging.

At the same time, experts do not recommend applying creams to the body of babies up to six months of age due to the possibility of absorption by the body of the components that make up the protective agents. They can also be harmful to the environment, so you should also avoid exposure to direct sunlight, such as wearing wide-brimmed hats and trying to stay in the shade if the UV index is higher than 3 on an 11-point scale.
