Trump announced resignation of US attorney general

The US President Donald Trump announced the resignation of the country’s attorney general William Barr . He wrote about this in Twitter .

The Minister of Justice will leave office by the end of December. “Our relationship is very good, he did an excellent job! According to the letter [of resignation], Bill leaves just before Christmas to spend the holidays with his family,” – explained the American leader. He attached a copy of Barr’s resignation letter to the email.

Temporarily acting as head of US Department of Justice will be Barr’s current first deputy Jeff Rosen. His place, in turn, will be taken by Richard Donoghue, who has been working since the summer in the leadership of the US Department of Justice, and before that worked in the prosecutor’s office in New York.

It was reported that Barr may leave his post before the end of Trump’s presidency a> December 7. It was noted that the reason for the decision could be both Trump’s refusal to admit defeat in the presidential election, and Barr’s words that the US Department of Justice did not find massive falsifications on them.

William Barr has served as US Attorney General since February 2019. In this position, he also worked under the President George Bush Sr. in 1991 -1993 years.

On November 3, 2020, regular presidential elections were held in the United States. On December 14, the electors approved the candidate from Democratic Party Joe Biden as the new US president. The politician received 55 electoral votes in the state of California, thus gaining 302 votes. To win the presidential race, you need to get 270 electoral votes.
