Turkey will tighten restrictions on New Year’s holidays

The President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan tightened restrictions on New Year’s holidays amid spread coronavirus, reports CNN Turk.

So, from 21:00 on December 31 to 5:00 on January 4, a 24-hour curfew is introduced. The head of state specified that the decision was made at a government meeting.

During the restriction period, cafes and restaurants will not operate, except for take-out services.

On November 30, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the introduction of a daily curfew in the country. The head of state said that the movement of residents would be limited on weekdays from 21:00 to 05:00. On weekends, going outside is completely prohibited. Baths, saunas, swimming pools and gyms were closed from December 1. There is also a limited number of visitors to shopping centers who will be allowed inside only with a digital code.

According to the latest data, 1.8 million cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Turkey. 16.4 thousand people died, 1.6 million patients recovered. Over the past day, 29 617 cases of coronavirus infection were detected, 229 people died. This is the highest rate since the start of the pandemic.
