Iran warns Biden of unwillingness to discuss missile program

Iran is not going to negotiate its missile program with the new US administration … This was stated by the President of the country Hassan Rouhani , reports Reuters .

“America has been trying for months to include a missile program (in the agenda of nuclear negotiations), but all these attempts have been rejected by us … And Mr Biden is well aware of this,” Rouhani warned during a press conference.

Instead, Tehran is demanding that the United States itself make adjustments to its policy towards Iran, lifting sanctions from it and compensating for the economic damage caused to the country by withdrawing from the “nuclear deal.”

In early December, Democratic Party Joe Biden, who allegedly won victory in the US presidential election, announced that he plans to return Washington to an agreement on the Iranian nuclear program – the so-called Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). He also said he plans to negotiate and conclude follow-up agreements with Iran that would “tighten and extend restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program, as well as touch on its missile program.”

On November 3, 2020, regular presidential elections were held in the United States. According to the media, Joe Biden received the number of electoral votes necessary to win and bypassed the current leader Donald Trump . Biden has already declared himself President-elect of the United States.

In 2018, the United States unilaterally withdrew from the JCPOA, which concerned Iran’s nuclear program, and imposed sanctions against Tehran. Trump called on the guarantor countries of the nuclear deal with Iran to abandon the further support of the current agreement.
