Europe gave Ukraine money to fight pandemic

Europe gave Ukraine more money, it is needed to combat the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic and the crisis. On Wednesday, December 9, European Commission (EC) transferred 600 million euros to Kiev as part of the package macro-financial assistance. This is stated in a message posted on the website EC.

The EC report notes that Ukraine has become the seventh country to receive payments from the EU program a> a volume of three billion euros, intended for 10 EU partner states. According to the representatives of the commission, “this payment will help maintain macro-financial stability in Ukraine, allowing the country to allocate resources to achieve results in the fight against the pandemic.” This is the first tranche, the EC is ready to give more money, but for this Ukraine will fulfill several conditions: in particular, we are talking about improving the business environment in the country and fighting corruption.

In Ukrainian Ministry of Finance in turn clarified the terms of the tranche: the money was received at an interest rate of 0.125 percent with a maturity date in June 2035.

Earlier in December, the European Union calculated the amount of financial assistance provided to Ukraine since 2014 of the year. It amounts to 16.5 billion euros. The aid was provided mainly in the form of grants and loans and was intended to support the ongoing structural reforms in Ukraine.
