Adolf Hitler from Africa disowned resemblance to Fuhrer of Third Reich

The politician Adolf Hitler Uunona, elected to the parliament of Namibia, disowned his resemblance to the Fuehrer of the Third Reich Adolf Hitler – he said that he was nothing like the Nazi leader, but could no longer change his name. An interview with him was published by the Namibian newspaper.

“My father gave me this name in infancy, I did not choose it. My father called me Adolf Hitler, but this does not mean that I am a character or something else reminiscent of German Adolf Hitler,” the 54-year-old quoted the publication politics. It is clarified that he can no longer change his name.

Hitler said that, unlike his namesake, he was not going to be cruel. He emphasized: he knows that Hitler “was a controversial figure and imprisoned and killed people all over the world,” but he, Uunona, is not at all like that. This was confirmed to the newspaper by his associates in the SWAPO party: they said that Hitler was a kind and hardworking person.

The politician received 1196 votes in the last election, compared to 213 votes received by his opponent. The victory gave him a seat on the regional council. His party, SWAPO, won 57 percent of the vote nationwide, significantly less than 83 percent of the vote in previous regional elections in 2015.

Once known as German Southwest Africa, Namibia was a German colony from 1884 until the empire lost its dominions after World War I.
