Miners went on strike in Lviv, Donetsk and Volyn regions of Ukraine. They demand that the authorities pay off wage arrears, “Strana.ua” reports.
According to the chairman of the Independent Trade Union of Miners of Ukraine, Mykhailo Volynets, in one of the mines of the Volyn region, miners remained underground. Workers from another mine refused to go underground and headed towards the administration building of the Volynugol state enterprise.
In the Lviv region, 75 miners went down to the mine, but refused to work.
In the city of Myrnohrad, Donetsk region, mine workers have been on strike since last week. Miners block the road in the city center.
In September, the miners of the Dnipropetrovsk region asked for help from the deputies European Parliament . They went on strike, demanding higher wages and better working conditions.
