Prime Minister of Moldova refused to resign

Moldovan Prime Minister Ion Chicu refused to resign, as demanded by the President-elect Maia Sandu. He stated this on December 7 after a weekly meeting with the participation of the current president Igor Dodon and Speaker of Parliament Zinaida Grechany, reports TASS .

“The government now has a moral duty to approve the budget so that the country does not have problems with paying salaries and pensions, so I ask everyone to be calm. In the next 10-12 days, the draft state budget needs to be adopted,” Kiku said.

He called on the deputies to “put aside politics” and concentrate on the adoption of budget documents. “Let them make all the amendments they consider necessary. We expect them this week,” the prime minister assured.

On the eve of Sandu, speaking at a rally of his supporters in Chisinau, urged Kiku resign immediately. Earlier, she said that the budget submitted by the government is not able to help citizens and contains corruption schemes .

The second round of the presidential elections in Moldova took place on November 15. Former Prime Minister Maia Sandu received 57.75 percent of the vote, Dodon 42.25 percent.
