Lukashenko called 2020 most difficult period for Belarus

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko summed up the economic results of 2020, stating that for the country, this was one of the most difficult periods in decades. BELTA writes about this in its Telegram -channel.

Lukashenko believes that one can look at the economic results in the outgoing year in different ways. He complained that the indicators in industry fell short of last year’s level, investments fell, exports dropped by 15 percent.

“But today we need to look wider and be aware of what emergency challenges are facing and what we managed to avoid. This is very important for planning for the future. The current government has had one of the most difficult periods in recent decades. Sometimes the situation is changed not by months or weeks, but by days, “Lukashenko said.

The main economic task for 2021, he called maintaining the achieved level and ensuring positive dynamics.

On November 30, Lukashenko told that an economic war is being waged against Belarus. He stressed that the global economy collapsed in 2020, so the way out of this situation will be very difficult.

In Belarus, for the fourth month, mass protests continue, which began after the presidential elections on August 9. Lukashenka, who ran for a sixth term, received 80 percent of the vote, according to official results. The opposition considers the elections to be rigged.
