Expert called signs of computer obsolescence

Evgeny Chertok, head of the IT department of the software developer Reksoft, named the signs of computer obsolescence. He told Prime agency that obsolescence can be functional and technical.

According to him, in the event of functional obsolescence, it is still possible to work on the computer, albeit not with the desired performance. However, in the second case it is a big question.

“Moral, or in other words, functional obsolescence is a matter of both an image and a technological problem. That is, the device may still be quite working, but there is no pleasure in working with it,” the expert explained. p >

According to Chertok, technical obsolescence is when the “hardware” starts to “junk”. For example, when the thermal paste between the processor and the cooler dries up and crumbles, or the cooler gets clogged and stops working, and programs freeze and the “operating system” crashes.

However, you shouldn’t throw away your old or broken computer. Chertok advised to install a more powerful processor on it, increase the amount of memory or install a gaming video card. Replacing a mechanical hard drive with an SSD (solid state drive) or replacing the entire PC hardware will also help.

If the computer shows no signs of life at all, it is most likely “hopelessly outdated”. In this case, it is better to give it to a specialist who will disassemble it and find working parts.

Previously, computer security experts appreciated the need to turn off the Wi-Fi router at night. According to them, one should not forget the simple rules of “cyber hygiene” and maintain a constant level of security of devices and applications, these rules also apply to Wi-Fi points.
