An angry bear attacked residents of the village of Anjwahi in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh, as a result of which four people were killed and three more injured, reports Xinhuanet.
On the evening of December 6, a group of villagers went to the forest to collect wild plants. There they were attacked by a wild bear. The animal killed four Indians and wounded three more.
“The bodies were sent for autopsy and the victims were hospitalized,” said District Tax Collector Satya Narayan Rathor.
The attack caused panic among local residents. After the incident, forestry officers and police were sent to the area to drive the bear away.
Employees of the Wildlife Service emphasized that due to the presence of humans in the forest, bears do not feel safe, because of which they can attack.
Previously it was reported that the Himalayan black bear in the Chamoli district of the Indian state of Uttarakhand tore a woman to pieces in front of her husband, with whom she went to collect grass for cattle feed. “The husband climbed a tree and escaped the bear, but the animal tore his wife to pieces,” said the Badrinath forestry officer.
