Lost dog spent weeks looking around city for his mistress and found her at work

In the US city of Dothan, Alabama, a lost dog spent weeks looking around the city for his owner and found her at the checkout in a store. The Washington Post reports.

June Rountree, 60, said her four-year-old dog, Abby, went missing on November 8. The woman went out into the yard and found an empty pet collar and leash on the ground. Rowntree and her husband combed the surrounding streets every day, but Abby was nowhere to be found.

Three weeks later, the dog found a mistress on its own. In recent years, Rowntree has been working as a cashier at Walmart grocery store . On November 28, she took over her shift and spotted Abby among the counters. “I called out to her by her nickname, and she ran up to me,” Rowntree recalls.

Rowntree spoke about the incident on Facebook, accompanying the story with joint pictures with Abby. The post went viral and received over nine thousand retweets. “I never in my life would have thought that she would come to Walmart, – said the American. – I have no idea how she found out that I work there.”

The hostess noted that Abby was not too thin. She assumed that all this time the dog was fed by kind people. “It’s really something incredible,” she said. “It was as if I had a dream. You cannot imagine that.”

Earlier it was reported that a golden retriever in the US state of Missouri ran away from its owner and lived in the forest for a year, after which he was found by volunteers. Despite the long life in the wild, the dog was doing well.
