A small spot under a woman’s eye turned out to be a sign of a deadly disease

A resident of the Australian city of Sydney, New South Wales, told how a small spot under her eye was a sign of a deadly disease. Her story was published on the Daily Mail website.

Five years ago, when 29-year-old Haipen was pregnant with her second child, her mother noticed a strange spot on her face. The small patch of skin under her left eye was pale and almost translucent and also slightly shiny. However, at that time, the Australian did not attach the proper importance to her mother’s words.

Eight months later, Haylen received a message on her phone from a cancer clinic reminding her to get tested. She took this as a sign and made an appointment. According to her, the doctor did not notice the strange spot under her eye until she focused on it. Then the specialist examined this area of skin under a microscope and found out that the patient had basalioma – a type of skin cancer.

“He looked again and said that the tumor should be removed immediately,” Haipen recalls. The neoplasm was about the size of a two Australian dollar coin. After therapy, the patient’s face left a scar from the left eye to the corner of the lips. Haipen points out that the scar has almost disappeared in five years.

Doctors noted that in case of delay in treatment, a woman could lose her sight, and in the worst outcome, her life.

Now the Australian woman regularly undergoes medical examinations and takes care of her skin. She admitted that she used to love to visit the solarium, thus she could provoke the appearance of a cancerous tumor. “When we were young, it seems to us that we are invulnerable. But now health is a priority for me,” she stressed.

Haipen shared her story to encourage people to see doctors regularly, use sunscreen, and not get carried away with tanning beds.

Last year, a resident of the Canadian province of Nova Scotia spoke about a barely noticeable spot over her lip, which turned out to be a sign of skin cancer. She went to the hospital on time and received the necessary treatment.
