Protesters detained in Paris tripled

The number of protesters detained in Paris tripled by evening. About this in Twitter wrote the chapter MIA France Gerald Darmanin.

In the afternoon it was reported about 20 detained participants of the rally. Currently, 64 people have been detained in the French capital. According to the department, eight law enforcement officers were injured. “Hooligans are smashing the republic. I express my support for our policemen and gendarmes, who are again brutally attacked,” Darmanen stressed.

The demonstration began peacefully. Soon the situation escalated: the protesters began to throw stones and firecrackers at the police, light flares. In addition, the protesters burned at least three cars, smashed office windows and knocked out security cameras. Police fired tear gas during the protests.

In total, more than 52 thousand people took to the streets throughout France, 5 thousand of them in Paris.

Protests in France began against the backdrop of the fact that the deputies of the National Assembly supported the article of the bill “On global security”, which criminalizes the dissemination of facial images or other element of identification of a police or gendarme representative with the aim of harming him. For this, a punishment of one year of imprisonment and a fine of 45 thousand euros is threatened.
