Biden asks Americans to wear masks for just 100 days

US presidential candidate Joe Biden intends to ask Americans to wear masks for 100 days after his inauguration, according to CNN.

“Only 100 days to wear masks, and not always. One hundred days. And I think we will see a significant reduction in [infected with the coronavirus],” the politician explained his position.

In November, Biden already spoke about the decision to introduce compulsory wearing masks. He intends to call governors and mayors of large cities from both parties, and demand to introduce a mandatory mask regime. If the governors refuse, the politician promised to address his request to the mayors in the states.

Under US law, each state and county has the right to impose its own quarantine restrictions. Washington has no right to set them by directive.

The United States continues to lead the world in terms of the number of detected cases of coronavirus infection. According to Johns Hopkins University, 14.1 million people have been infected in the country since the beginning of the pandemic, and more than 276,000 have died.
