Sandu urged government of Moldova to resign

President-elect of Moldova Maia Sandu called on the current government of the country to resign. She reported on her Facebook page.

According to Sandu, she had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Ion Chicu. The President-elect of Moldova told him that the budget presented by the government is not able to help the citizens of the country and contains schemes on which corrupt officials will earn.

“I told him that the country needs a different parliament and a different government. The resignation of the government is the shortest path to this goal,” concluded Sandu.

Earlier, the Parliament of Moldova deprived of Sandu’s powers – the deputies approved in the final reading a bill on reassigning the Information and Security Service to the country’s parliament. This decision angered the parliamentary opposition, whose representatives blocked the rostrum.

The second round of the presidential elections in Moldova took place on November 15. Former Prime Minister Maia Sandu received a majority of the votes – 57.75 percent. Her rival was the current head of state Igor Dodon , for whom 42.25 percent voted voters.
