Nutritionist and popular blogger Elena Kalen named foods that interfere with lose weight if you eat them before bed. Videos with recommendations are posted on her Instagram -account.
According to Kalen, first of all, those who want to lose weight should give up meat (especially fried), tomatoes, eggplants, canned foods, pickles (vegetables or fish), avocados, spicy cheeses and blue cheese. These foods are harmful because of the substance they contain, tyramine, which converts to norepinephrine, a stress hormone.
In addition, celery should be avoided in the late hours of the day. It is useful for losing weight, but it is not recommended to eat it before bed. “Celery is a fairly strong diuretic. Night trips to the toilet will not keep you waiting, which will also disrupt your sweet sleep,” the specialist warns.
In the evenings, it is not advisable to eat nuts and other fatty foods, since they contain a lot of starch and sugar. Such food puts a lot of stress on the digestive system, Kalen notes. As a result, fatty foods impair sleep quality and interfere with weight loss.
Calen also recommends avoiding fiber-rich foods before bed. In particular, she advises against eating fresh fruits, berries, beans, and mushrooms. Fiber can ferment and cause flatulence and abdominal pain, which can interfere with sleep, she said. “In the morning you will wake up irritated and wanting to eat more than usual,” explains the doctor.
