Japan plans to abandon gasoline and diesel cars by 2035. Such cars will not be sold on the domestic market, writes NHK.
Only hybrids, electric vehicles and fuel cell vehicles will be available for purchase. Japan wants to completely end emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases by 2050. A number of countries also intend to abandon gasoline cars. For example, the UK plans to ban their sale by 2030, and France by 2040.
Earlier it became known that the Japanese authorities plan to give the population twice more money to buy electric vehicles. They are currently allocating 400,000 yen (about $ 3.8k). However, next year they want to double their payments (up to 7.6 thousand dollars). Last year, about 20 thousand electric vehicles were sold in the country.
The French authorities have also decided to subsidize the purchase of electric cars. They will pay extra one thousand euros for those who buy used electric cars. The authorities are allocating seven thousand euros for the purchase of a new car.
