US President-elect Joe Biden is going to revolutionize the American economy and make it more green, sparking a boom in the electric vehicle market reports Bloomberg .
By 2030, he plans to expand the infrastructure for electric vehicles fivefold and open half a million new charging stations. The plan could cost Washington $ 5 billion and stimulate the sale of some 25 million electric cars and electric trucks.
As noted by Bloomberg, the current lack of charging stations is one of the main reasons why car owners still prefer internal combustion engines to electric vehicles. However, the implementation of the Biden plan will cover more than 50 percent of the charging station needs in the United States in 10 years.
According to the US Department of Energy, there are currently 28,000 charging stations in the United States with about 90,000 charging points. A fifth of them are intended only for Tesla, and only a tenth of the rest can charge an electric car fast enough to make it convenient to travel on such a car. Most are designed to slowly charge cars while their owner is sitting at work, for example.
In the course of the election race, Joe Biden promised the Americans to take a course towards more active use of clean energy sources in the United States and reduce the amount of emissions into the atmosphere. In particular, he promised to introduce privileges in the country for replacing gasoline-powered cars with electric cars and transferring federal officials to “green” vehicles.
