Husband and wife decided to lose weight during pandemic and lost 52 kilograms for two

A married couple from the US city of Atlanta, Georgia, lost 52 kilograms for two in seven months, reports the edition Runners World.

30-year-old Marlon (Marlon) and 28-year-old Camille Jones (Camille Jones) weighed 190 and 86 kilograms, respectively, and felt that even ordinary daily tasks are not easy for them. The couple tried strict diets and sometimes exercised, but instead of losing weight, they developed health problems.

It turned out that Marlon has a prediabetic condition and sleep apnea, and Camille has polycystic ovary syndrome. When the pandemic began, they saw it as an opportunity to change their lifestyle.

“The coronavirus opened our eyes. We started thinking about our health and how to improve it,” – said Marlon.

On April 1, they began to lose weight. The couple went in for sports at home using video training. But a month later, Marlon suggested Camille to start running, and by May to run 50 kilometers. “I very much doubted it. I tried running before, and could not run more than 30 seconds without stopping,” she stressed.

On May 1, they ran and walked 3.7 kilometers around the local business park, then began to run 12-16 kilometers a week. “It was difficult at first, but the progress was amazing. Although we could not run far or fast, every day our results improved and it became easier. Running changed our attitude to training,” Camille said. By the end of May, the Americans had reached their goal of 50 kilometers. The couple now run three to four days a week, five kilometers at a time.

The couple also changed their eating habits. “We don’t follow a specific diet. Instead, I have created a balanced meal plan that suits our lifestyle. We do not limit ourselves to the food we love, we just eat it in moderation,” Camille said.

In seven months, Camille lost 11 kilograms, and Marlon – 41 kilograms.

“We plan to run our first official race on the anniversary of our first run, and we are going to run at least five races next year,” Camille said.
