A six-month-old puppy accidentally lit a burner and started a fire at his owners’ home in the English town of Faversham, Kent, reports the Kent Online edition.
On Tuesday morning, December 1, a six-month-old half-breed Cocker Spaniel and Jack Russell Terrier named Mack (Mac) was left alone at home. His attention was drawn to the stove, on which was a basket of laundry.
The puppy accidentally lit the burner and the basket began to smoke.
Neighbors heard fire sirens and called rescuers, so the flame did not have time to spread through the house. The puppy was not injured.
Firefighters advised local residents never to leave things unsuitable for cooking on the stove. They also reminded pet owners to keep pets away from cooking utensils and to make sure there is at least one working fire alarm on every floor of the house.
Earlier it was reported that a dog from the English city of Stanford-le-Hop , Essex, started a fire by turning on the microwave while the owners were not at home. The owner of the dog found out about the incident thanks to an application on his mobile phone, which allowed him to follow what was happening in the house through surveillance cameras.
