German police are investigating the circumstances of the abduction of a two-meter phallus from the Grünten mountain, located 140 kilometers from Munich, reports The Guardian.
Apparently, unknown persons sawed down and carried away a wooden statue weighing 200 kilograms last weekend, November 28 or 29. Only sawdust remained at the scene. Since nothing is known about the author or the owner of the famous phallus, it remains to be determined whether the kidnappers can be considered criminals.
The statue appeared on the mountain several years ago. According to rumors, it was a joke birthday present for a young man. His relatives did not like the statue, so they decided to drag it up the mountain. When the phallus was found, it quickly turned into a local landmark and became a place of pilgrimage for tourists.
In 2017 it was reported that on the top of Mount Otscher in Austria was found a wooden phallus about one and a half meters high. The authorities planned to transfer it to the Cistercian monastic order, but a few months later the unknown attached to the phallus wooden ears, paws and muzzle. This made the statue look like a bear.
