A cat will live in the White House: it will be led by the US presidential candidate from the Democratic Party Joe Biden and his wife Jill. The New York Times writes about it.
In addition, the politician decided to bring two of his dogs to the residence: a German shepherd named Major and Champion. The cat will appear in the White House for the first time in more than 10 years: the last time a pet of former President George W. Bush lived there was in 2001-2009.
The New York Times notes that current President Donald Trump did not want to acquire an animal at his residence.
Biden and his wife Jill are the owners of two German Shepherds. The couple took the Major in 2018 at the Delaware Humane Association. The politician made this decision after his daughter Ashley posted a post to the organization on Facebook, which said that the puppies were looking for a new home. Another pet, Champion, was purchased by the Biden ten years earlier from a breeder.
On November 3, 2020, regular presidential elections were held in the United States. The counting of votes and the proceedings on this issue are still ongoing. According to the media, Biden received the necessary number of electoral votes to win, thus bypassing the incumbent head of the White House, Donald Trump. The democrat has already proclaimed himself the elected president of the United States. Trump, in turn, said that Biden was quick to call himself the country’s new leader.
