A nurse from the American city of Sparks, Nevada, lost 55 kilograms in 18 months and gave advice to those wishing to lose weight. She told her story in Runner’s World magazine.
“When I finished school, I started to move less and ate more junk food,” explains Sandy Fontes. “I got married at 19 and had six children in nine years.” By the age of 30, she put on weight up to 128 kilograms. The woman had constant joint pain, she suffered from sleep apnea and digestive disorders.
When Fontes was diagnosed with celiac disease, she had to give up gluten-free foods. Gradually, she revised her entire diet, began to eat more fruits, vegetables and quality meat. The woman understood that she also needed physical activity, but the thought of going to the gym caused her panic. Then she decided to start running on the Couch-to-5K program.
Her first goal was to run 400 meters. “I remember the feeling of pride and success the first time I ran the whole circle,” says Funtes. It took her a year and a half to lose weight up to 73 kilograms. After that, she continued to run and eat right so as not to get fat again.
Earlier it was reported that a resident of the Scottish city of Leuven, who weighed 165 kilograms, lost almost two-thirds of the weight and shared the secret of losing weight. She changed her diet and started to exercise regularly.
