In 2021, Sony will release a budget version of its next generation set-top box, reports the Chinese edition 3DMGAME.
Journalists link to a post from a reputable blogger on Weibo. The source reports that the Japanese corporation intends to present a cheap version of the PlayStation 5. According to him, the console will be called PlayStation 5 Lite.
The blogger said that the launch of such a set-top box on the market will solve the problem with the shortage of the Sony game console. Also PS5 Lite can be purchased by gamers who believe that the original console is too expensive. Specifications and restrictions that will be imposed on the new console are not being disclosed. According to the blogger, Sony will introduce a budget PS5 in the second half of 2021.
The current line of Sony game consoles includes two models – PlayStation 5 with a disk drive and its digital version, devices priced at $ 499 and $ 399, respectively. Sony’s previous generation console lineup consisted of the original PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Slim and PlayStation 4 Pro. The last two devices were introduced three years after the release of the PS4.
