London homeless people will be offered a two-week hotel stay for Christmas

London homeless people will be offered a two-week hotel stay with three meals a day and virtual performances of celebrities for Christmas, according to The Sunday Times.

This year, charities will not be able to accommodate the homeless in dormitories due to the risk of the spread of coronavirus. Therefore, the London Hotel Group agreed to provide rooms in four hotels at a reduced rate.

So, breaking a 50-year tradition, benefactors have rented 517 rooms for people without a fixed abode. According to the head of the organization, Ian Richards, employees did not agree to conditions worse than previously provided.

At the hotel, they will be provided with three meals a day, delivered to their room. In addition, they will have access to medical assistance, and on Christmas night, performances by stars of Ellie Golding will be broadcast on the screens, Imelda Staunton and Jonathan Price .

According to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), which the publication refers to, in the UK from January to March 2020, 36,690 households were classified as homeless. Another 38,450 were in danger of losing their homes within 56 days.
