In Georgia, from November 28 to January 31 of the following year, a national lockdown was introduced with a pause for the New Year and Christmas, according to “Sputnik Georgia”.
The tightening and expansion of restrictions imposed due to the difficult situation with the coronavirus will affect intercity transportation – they are prohibited. Public transport will stop working in the eight largest cities of the country – Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi, Rustavi, Gori, Zugdidi, Telavi and Poti.
Restaurants and cafes are switching to food delivery or takeout mode. All shops stop working, except for grocery stores, pharmacies, newsstands. It is prohibited to operate fitness centers and swimming pools throughout the country, conduct seminars, trainings, sports and cultural circles. The duration of the ban on being on the streets is increasing: you cannot leave the house from 21:00 local time.
At the same time, from December 24 to January 2 in connection with the New Year holidays, all restrictions, except for the ban on night movement, will be removed. The ban on being on the street will be lifted on New Year’s Eve – December 31 and Christmas – January 6. From January 3rd to January 15th, all restrictions will take effect again.
Georgia is experiencing the second wave of coronavirus – 4472 new infections were recorded on November 28. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country has exceeded 127 thousand people, 1195 patients have died.
