President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that the country’s special services intercepted a closed press conference of oppositionists who left the republic. The video with the speech of the Belarusian leader was published by Telegram -channel “Pool of the First”.
According to Lukashenko, at the overheard conference of “suckers” and other “fugitives” the leader of the Belarusian opposition Svetlana Tikhanovskaya said that she “does not decide anything.” She also, according to the statement of the Belarusian leader, noted that “our president is in Lithuania.” The head of Belarus stressed that the West needs just such a person as Tikhanovskaya, and she is “kept” there, as there is no one else.
Earlier, Tikhanovskaya urged the European Union to expand sanctions against the authorities of Belarus. She supported the idea of imposing economic sanctions on businesses associated with President Alexander Lukashenko and the oligarchs close to him.
In Belarus, for the fourth month, mass protests continue, which began after the presidential elections on August 9. According to the official results, Lukashenka, who ran for a sixth term, received 80 percent of the vote. The opposition considers the elections to be rigged.
