Elon Musk’s Tesla company will recall more than ten thousand Model X and Model Y cars due to identified defects, writes Interfax .
The auto giant will recall 870 Model X cars from the PRC due to problems with fixing roof fragments. Its pieces flying off during movement can pose a danger to other road users. Tesla previously announced that 9136 Model X cars (produced between September 2015 and July 2016) would have to be returned to car owners due to a similar issue.
In addition, Tesla will recall 401 Model Y vehicles (released in 2020) due to insufficient tightening of the steering bolts during assembly. This could result in a steering failure. The manufacturer will fix the defects free of charge.
Earlier Tesla thought about producing a compact electric car for the European market. Musk said it might make sense to launch a hatchback as Europeans prefer smaller cars.
